It does get stressful, but fortunately my supervisor is always very understanding if I need a breather or a last minute day off! It’s really important to take time for yourself if and when you need it, don’t work yourself to the point of exhaustion and anxiety – it’s important to take a break when your brain is telling you to!

Yes it can be stressful! My PhD was very stressful, but my supervisor would always remind me to stay calm and advise me to go home and relax instead of working longer hours. I also got a lot better at not getting stressed!

Hi Lottie! Yes research can sometimes be quite stressful… For me it is particularly stressful when the instruments in the lab are broken. Luckily it does not happen too often!

Definitely! I think the worst was when I needed to do an experiment in a certain space of time, but I couldn’t get it to work. I did eventually but it was very stressful. I tried to make sure to take lots of breaks during my PhD to reduce the amount of stress and give my brain time to chill!
