• Question: have you ever consider a carrier change and if so why ?

      Academia (research in universities) can be very competitive. I am aware that it might be very hard for me to find another job in this area after my 3 year contract finishes so I know that I might have to make a small career change. There are lots of other research positions that I am qualified to do in industry though so I am not too worried at the moment! I have also considered going into science journalism which also sounds really interesting.

      I think I would always want to stay in science but perhaps try a different type. In chemistry you can work in different fields. Organic chemistry really focuses on carbon containing molecules and compounds. Inorganic chemistry deals with nearly everything that isn’t carbon. Within each of these broad fields, there are hundreds of different areas to study in.

      Yes! My dream/Goal is to move over into Cancer Research – which would be a career change of sorts!
