      I think that electricity is the most useful scientific discovery. In about 600 BC, the Ancient Greeks discovered that rubbing fur on amber (fossilized tree resin) caused an attraction between the two – and so what the Greeks discovered was actually static electricity.

      I think the original big discovery was fire! And without that we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere – so even if it seems like a ridiculously far removed answer I’m going to say Fire!

      I think I’m going to agree with Aimee- fire! Not one I would have originally thought of but now she’s said it it seems so obvious!
