• Question: what kind of cool experiments do you do and why

      Hey! Cool username you got there – very relatable 😅

      I do all sorts of cool stuff in the lab, but my favourite is one which ends up as a lovely ruby red liquid – it’s really pretty.

      I make MOFs which are like tiny molecular cages. The corners are made of metal atoms and the sides are made of carbon based things. A lot of the work I do involves I lot of things that fall appart or set on fire if they touch the air, so I have to use some special equiptment so work with them.
      I also normally keep them very cold to slow down and control the reactions. In this photo you can see my reaction being cooled to -78 degrees celcius with the help of liquid nitrogen:

      I am making MOFs to see if I can do reactions in their tiny holes. This might mean that we can control the reactions in a different way to if we just did them in a normal pot.
