      Tough one to answer since every scientist does work based on the work done by those before them. Obvious choices might be people like Einstein, Benjamin Franklin (electricity), Marie Curie (X-rays).. One of the scientists who I think has made a huge contribution to today’s society is John Goodenough who discovered (with his team) the lithium ion battery which forms the basis of today’s technological society (there’s one in your phone).       I think Albert Einstein has become synonymous with science in this day and age – so I’m gonna say the man himself for this one!

      I think Louis Pasteur- he invented the smallpox vaccine, which led to the invention of all other vaccines!
